    The Nature of Consciousness

We exist in an infinite field of conscious, intelligent energy that many think of as God, but which might also be thought of as the One Mind. The One Mind is the eternal energy of everything, the source and supply of all things.  Everything seen and unseen is the same limitless energy, merely in different forms. The One Mind contains all potential, all possibility. It has the inherent genius to focus its energy to become anything it chooses, including human consciousness.

Conventional wisdom thinks of the brain as the location of consciousness and the site of thinking; a sort of complex organic recorder that stores all the information you’ve absorbed, and all the events and emotions you’ve experienced; that once this information is stored, it can be recalled as needed. But the brain does not store information and experiences.  Nor does it do any thinking.

It’s important to understand that your brain is intimately connected to the One Mind energy of everything, and constantly exchanging information within it.  Your brain is also inseparable from your body, which is an extension of your environment.  So, your brain is in intimate contact with the One Mind, your body, and your environment, and constantly exchanging information with all three.

Your brain’s job is to correlate all the information it receives from your body, your environment, and the One Mind, and to organize the conscious and physical responses necessary to produce the experience you call your life.  Your brain uses its computing power and programming to create your unique life experience from all the infinite possibilities available.

The brain is nothing more than a neurological relay station and computer.  It receives bits of information from its sources which it can then organize into the requested form, much the same as your laptop, tablet, or smart phone interacts with the internet. If you didn’t know your computer was connected to an internet, or that it was programmed to receive and process bits of information stored somewhere in that internet, it might seem that the computer was the source of the information. When in fact, its only contribution is to process the information it receives in a manner consistent with its programming. Your computer doesn’t think.  It processes requests and organizes the information it receives. So does your brain.

How does your brain get programmed? Like a computer that comes with basic programs in place, you inherit some programming genetically from your ancestors. But also, starting in the womb and continuing throughout life, the brain is impressed by what the eye sees, the ear hears, the nose smells, and the body feels. Any of these sensory triggers can provoke a neurological or hormonal response from your body which in turn generates a corresponding reaction in your brain. During the process of responding to these chemical changes within your body, the brain develops a receptor site to receive sensory-specific information from the One Mind, and creates an organic program for processing that information. The program can then organize the information it receives from the One Mind into a recognizable form we know as a consciousness experience.

When the brain generates a response to a specific stimulus, it’s not remembering a previous experience. Your brain is simply receiving information that provokes a reaction as it has been previously programmed to do.  The source of the information is the One Mind, not your brain.  One Mind contains the information of everything. Not only for physical form, but also all emotion, imagination, and thought.

Once a program is created, it’s subject to continuous re-programming. Since conception, each impressionable little brain has been busily building programs that produce responses which in turn influence new programming in individually unique ways. Previous experience determines how current experience is processed.

Individual brains may be exposed to the same information but manifest it in completely different ways since the programming that occurs can vary greatly.  Most general information such as language and numbers isn’t subject to individual interpretation, and so becomes common understanding across the spectrum of individuals.  But each brain is absolutely unique because no other brain has experienced events and information in exactly the same manner.  An individual brain receives and processes information consistent with its remarkable programming to produce a one-of-a-kind adventure.

A brain doesn’t feel.  A brain doesn’t imagine.  A brain doesn’t think. What we call thinking doesn’t actually happen.  All thought comes from the One Mind. The One Mind is the source of not only all thought that has ever occurred, but also all possible thought. The One Mind stores thought as tiny bits of seemingly unrelated fragments in a quantum process akin to wave interference. All emotions, all imaginings, all thoughts, all of the ingredients that make up what we think of as consciousness, occur apart from our organic brains and are stored as bits of diffuse energy information in the One Mind. There is but one intelligence source which all conscious beings share: the One Mind.

The brain receives stored bits of thought fragments that it has been programmed to accept from the One Mind and then correlates them in accordance with its programming. The resulting thought construct that the brain produces makes it seem that our brain is consciously thinking, when in reality it’s only organizing bits of information it has received into a coherent pattern consistent with its individual programs.

Not only does the brain receive and transmit information from the One Mind, but so does every other component of life processes. At any given time there are countless creatures exchanging information with the One Mind via various mechanisms. The One Mind supplies all information necessary to sustain the infinitely convoluted activity we know as physical life and form.

But only conscious human beings are exclusively equipped to receive and process One Mind information for imagination and complex emotion.  And even though it may seem we imagine and feel as independent beings, we don’t do this imagining and feeling in our individual minds.  Everything happens in the One Universal Mind. The One Supreme Intelligence which is used by all.

Our brains are miraculous organic processors.  But remember, a brain can only process what it has been programmed to process.  We’ve explained that our brains are programmed genetically and by information from our senses, but it cannot be over-emphasized that this programming is continuously altered by new experiences, or new reactions to old experiences. Our brains are constantly altering their programs in response to new information.

The significance of this knowledge means that it is possible to consciously alter your brain to receive and process information in ways that you deliberately choose.  You literally have the power to manifest the life you wish to experience.

Your brain sits at the center of your personal universe, receiving information from the One Mind, your environment, and your senses.  Your brain uses its programming to analyze and correlate all this data, then directs the response or behavior that results in a life experience we think of as consciousness. All we have to do to change the experience is to alter our brain’s receptors to receive life-force energy information we choose, and then use the new information to overwrite old programs to process information in new and more supportive ways. How do we change our brain’s receptors to allow us to overwrite old programming?  By shifting our conscious awareness. How do we shift our awareness? Meditation is the key that opens the door.

There’s no magic to meditation, but it does take patient practice to be effective. Find a quiet place safe from interruptions. Close your eyes and concentrate on silencing your busy mind.  When your attention wanders, as it inevitably will, gently return it to the place of silence. Focus on receiving One Mind life-force energy of gratitude, love, health, and prosperity.  Sit in the silence as long as possible. Meditate at least once each day; more often if you can.  The more diligent the effort, the more gratifying the outcome will be.

If the results you desire don’t happen soon enough, you may be tempted to give up.  Please don’t. With patience and persistence, I believe you will come to realize that it’s possible to actually alter your consciousness and begin to attract the life we all seek: a life with fewer disappointments and greater rewards; a life of prosperity and abundance; a life filled with genuine love, and appreciation for the blessings we constantly receive.
